Swedish Massage

Massage is probably one of the oldest forms of medical treatment.  Massage dates further back then Socrates, using the terms as tripsis, friction, manipulation, rubbing or shampooing. The word Massage is most likely derived from Arabic "masah' which means to stroke with the hand.  Brought from Europe in the 18th century by a Swede, Per Henrik Ling, where he opened up the first recorded 'school' for Massage.

Sessions are classified as passive or gymnastic movements, pressure, friction, vibrating, percussion or rotation.  A whole body Swedish Massage is one hour.

Shiatsu/Anma Massage

Shi means finger, atsu means pressure. A form of manipulation administered by the thumbs, fingers, and palms.  Anma is the technique used.  An means press, and ma means stroke.

Anma/Shiatsu consists of applying pressure, stroking, tapotment,  and other forms of motion to the energetic points and pathways that are identified in Oriental medicine.  Bringing the body to life by pressure and movement.  This technique can be performed fully clothed, wearing loose fitting light fabric.  Sessions are usually about one hour in length.
