CranioSacral Therapy -CST
CST dates back to 1970 when osteopathic physician John E. Upledger first witnessed the rhythmic movement of the craniosacral system during a spinal surgery.
Since this vital system influences the development and performance of the brain and spinal cord, an imbalance or restriction it could potentially cause any number of sensory, motor or neurological disabilities.
CST is a gentle method of detection and correction that encourages your own natural healing mechanisms to dissipate these negative effects of stress on your central nervous system.
CranioSacral therapy is performed on a fully clothed client, using a light touch (the weight of a nickle). The Practitioner monitors the rhythm of the CranioSacral system, which is similar to a 'semi-closed hydraulic system' contained within the tough envelopes of the brain and spinal cord.
The cranial system consist of membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord including the bones from the skull, the face and mouth (making up the Cranium) and down to the Sacrum (or tail bone).
CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle method of detection and correction, by a well trained practitioner, that encourages your own natural healing mechanisms to correct itself.
SomatoEmotional Release -SER
Somatic: Meaning "of the body." Many times this term is used to denote a body/mind or whole-body approach as distinguished from a physiology-only or environmental perspective.
Research conducted in the late 1970's by Dr. Upledger led to the discovery that the body often retains the emotional imprint of physical trauma. Have you ever had physical pain long after the injured site has healed? This is not as unusual as you might think.
SER expands the principles of CranioSacral Therapy dealing with the physical manifestations of emotional trauma. The release of the physical block will often, but not always, cause an emotional energy outburst. This process helps rid the mind and body of residual effects of past trauma and associated negative emotional experiences.
'Energy Cyst' are imprints that occur at the time of the injury. Anger, fear, grief, resentment or any unresolved emotions leave these residues in the body. With time and life, stress, they may become more difficult to suppress or ignore.
The certified practitioner engages in imaging and dialoguing techniques that can guide the client in releasing the long held emotions. Analyzing the problem is not necessary for the release to occur. The qualified practitioner can feel the body relax as the energy cyst is expelled.
